A Salute to Exceptional Fathers

On Sunday June 18th, 2017, from 11am to 3pm, fathers, their families, as well as guests of NEET, will gather to salute men who are making a difference in Negril. Nuh Dutty Up Jamaica

The Jamaica Environment Trust in partnership with the  Tourism enhancement Fund and Wisynco Group launched the Nuh Dutty Up Jamaica Cleanup network. This network was launched to address the country’s need for proper garbage disposal. Nuh Dutty Up Jamaica is a public education campaign that aims to improve citizens knowledge about the impact of poorly handled waste on public health and the environment, while encouraging personal responsibility for the generation and disposal of waste. Our 5th Graduation

On Sunday March 26, Negril Education Environment Trust hosted its 5th Tablet Programme Graduation on the beautiful lawns of Westender Inn. The 27 graduates and  parents were addressed by past student Topaz Tyson who charged students to follow the NEET principles to achieve their dreams. We want to thank Ayanna Gregory for her powerful message to all attendees.  The students and parents began attending classes at Travellers Beach Resort on January 21. A Memorable Visit

We had a wonderful visit with the Performing Arts Department of  Green Island High School on March 15. The School eagerly welcomed our friends Robert & Dawn Cummings  and Steve & Dorren Chapman guest at the Travellers Beach for a special performance. We had a great morning touring the school and being welcomed by the polite students and staff. There were several moments when we were close to tears but that was as a result of the amazing talent of these youths. Congratulations to Mr Dennis Hawthorne, proprietor of Dennis Shipping Company. This lifetime philanthropist goes by the motto '' We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.'' Mr Hawthorne was recently awarded by the University of the West Indies for his support of education. over the years he has assisted with the tuition of numerous students to the institution.  On Culture day Mr Hawthorne made a surprise donation to Negril Education Environment Trust. Culture Day 2017

Travellers Beach Resort hosted Culture Day 2017 on February 14th. Cultural Day invites students to perform traditional items for guests from across the world. As students showcase their talents, guests are encouraged to buy a brick on which they can paint their names or a positive message. Award wining performances were the focus of the afternoon as students amazed patrons in speech, song, dance and drama.   Everton Hannam, UNESCO ,Sharon Parris-Chambers, CVD club, and Joy Clark from Digicel, lauded the event and brought messages of . Negril Rotary Donkey Races

Thanks to the generous guests and friends of Travellers Beach Resort, 300 NEET students got to experience the wonder and excitement of the Donkey Races. The Rotary Club  of Negril organised a fantastic production which culminated on February 12. The event featured face painting, rides, food and of course the main attraction Donkey's Racing.  The Wavz beach venue welcomed patrons who arrived as early as 10 A.M. Community Service Project

After receiving word of the fire at Clifton Boy's Home, community service coordinators began plans to visit the home. Saddened by the loss of the beacon of hope, students and parents began gathering personal items and food to support to the group. The group has always been close to our heart and on the 11th  of February, the fifth cohorts of N.E.E.T Tablet program visited. We arrived in time join in a devotional exercise with the prefect body of William Knibb Memorial High School. The students held a special concert to raise funds to donate to the home. Visit from the Non-Profit GURU

In January Rev Dr. Valerie Oliver-Durrah will visit Negril Education Environment Trust to facilitate training with members of staff. The visionary, Dr Durrah, is president of Neighborhood Technical Assistance Clinic (NTAC). She will travel to Jamaica in January to continue training in management and strategic plans.   NTAC is a strategic partner and adviser to philanthropists, foundations, public institutions, grassroots nonprofit organizations, and faith-based institutions wishing to improve their programs and organizational effectiveness in addressing the needs of low-income and service-starved communities.    For over 20 years NTAC has given focus to grassroots and community-centered non-profit endeavors.
